Wilson Neely

A highly esteemed member of the NYC-based firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, Wilson Neely works with a firm of 820 attorneys. His focus is on the practice areas of capital markets and securities, corporate governance, energy and infrastructure, and mergers and acquisitions. Since joining the firm as an Associate in 1982, Wilson Neely has handled many private equity transactions, which include leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, and strategic partnerships. Wilson Neely also offered his legal insight on a number of initial public offerings with both common stock and high-yield securities. As a result of his invaluable expertise, Neely became a Partner in 1991.

Wilson Neely functions out of the New York City office of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, while the practice operates out of locations throughout the world. With offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Houston, London, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Sao Paolo, Tokyo, and Washington, D.C., the firm handles cases relating to antitrust, banking and credit, international practice, energy and infrastructure, financial institutions, insurance, and intellectual property. At the New York City location, Wilson Neely functions as primary counsel for private equity firms The Blackstone Group L.P. and Centerbridge Partners, L.P. For his work with The Blackstone Group, Neely earned recognition in the Am Law Daily’s Dealmaker of the Week segment.

Outside of his legal work, Wilson Neely maintains a presence in several NYC organizations. He belongs to the Board of Trustees with the National Foundation for Facial Reconstruction. This nonprofit organization helps individuals with craniofacial conditions to access reconstructive plastic surgery through New York University’s Langone Medical Center. The Foundation provides funds to the Center to cover the cost of needed operations. Wilson Neely also helps to preserve important pieces of history through his involvement with Historic Hudson Valley. This establishment is crucial in the maintenance of notable landmarks such as the Rockefeller Estate, Kykuit.

Wilson Neely was born and raised in Texas, and he attended the University of Texas School of Law for his J.D. prior to moving to New York City. He lives in the city with his wife and twin children.
